In a hugely p[opular result, Eglinton regular and all round nice guy Barry O'Sullivan won the Galway Mini Grand Prix and €6,400.
Having been one of the overnight chip leaders, Barry was almost crippled at the final table when his AK lost a 4 million chip all-in against Robin Steele's JJ but he recovered soon after when he doubled through Brian Hehir as his top pair survived against an open ender.
Party poker pro, Louise Butler had been chip leader from mid way through the final day all the way down to the final 3 of Barry, herself and Robin but she had her Waterloo with K8 calling 3 streets against Barry on a 865, K, 2 board only to be shown 74 for a flopped straight.
The heads up ended as the blind levels got huge and Robin went all-in with A2 called by Barry's A6. The board ran out J43, K, T and the 6 played.
Robin collected €3,750 for his valiant efforts with Louise winning €2,200.
A great event, roll on next Spring for the next instalment.
