Kieran Furey beat UKIPT Edinburgh champion Fintan Gavin in a spectacular heads up to take Wednesday's €2.5k Freezeout and first place in the tournament league.
Kevin Roche and George Stoddart had hung in well for fourth and third places but when Fintan knocked out George he held a four to one chip lead and it looked all over but Furious was determined to make life as difficult as possible for the big man.
Blinds were 3000-6000 with Fintan having 250k to Kieran's 60k. Kieran limped and Fintan cheched. Flop 772, check from Fintan bet 10000 from Kieran, all-in from Fintan called by Kieran. Fintan shows A8 and Kieran AJ. What a start.
Next another limped pot gets to the turn; 26JT. Fintan bets 20k, raised all-in by Kieran. Slow call T6 for Kieran, KJ for Fintan. Nothing on the river and Kieran now has 240k to Fintan's 70k.
The end was not far off. Again a limped pot checked to the turn; KKT6. Fintan checks, Kieran bets 20k, all-in from Fintan and a long dwell-up from Kieran. Eventually, he calls with QT, Fintan's Q7 is dead and we have a winner.
