Kieran Furey, one of the most successful players in The Eglinton's history won The Connacht Poker Open last night amongst joyous scenes at the Radisson Hotel. Kieran was delighted to win beating an incredibly tough final table which was almost like a benefit for Eglinton regulars as Willie Browne, Austin Crowe, Darragh McDonnell, Daniel Henderson and PaulDelaney all finished in the top 8.
Kieran said that it wasn't quite as good as witnessing his beloved Corofin win the All-Ireland on Paddy's Day but it came damn close. The title was Kieran's after a deal was struck with Xia Cheng Chen who played a superb, agressive game himself.
Paul Delaney, Daniel Henderson, Darragh McDonnell and Austin Crowe were the next four in the standings with Willie Browne's eighth place completing a great night for Eglinton regs.
